I’ve had a few students ask about Credly badges—what they are, who Credly is, and why they’re sending emails about their CAPM or PMP certification. If that sounds familiar, this quick guide is for you.

What Are Credly Badges?
Credly badges are secure, verifiable digital credentials used by certification issuing organizations like PMI (PMP, CAPM), Scrum Alliance (CSM, CSPO) and AXELOS (PRINCE2). PMI uses them to provide verifiable proof that you’ve earned a certification or held a chapter leadership role. These badges are perfect for showcasing your accomplishments on LinkedIn, resumes, email signatures, or internal HR platforms.

Little known facts

  • Everybody who earns a PMI credential automatically gets a credly profile – unless they opted out of the public certification registry on the PMI website.
  • Every badge is unique. It includes a secure link to your Credly profile: a live page hosted on Credly.com where you’ll find meta data like the recipient’s name, issue date and certification details.

How to Find Your Credly Profile
If you’re PMI certified or have held a chapter leadership position, you probably already have a Credly profile—even if you didn’t realize it.

Here’s how to find your Credly badge:

  • Go to credly.com and click Sign In.
  • Use the “Forgot password?” option and enter the email address you use for your PMI account.
  • If PMI already issued your badge, you’ll receive a password reset link and gain access to your profile.
  • Once logged in, make sure your PMI email is listed under Account Settings > Emails to avoid syncing issues.

What If My Badge Disappears?
Some people run into problems. For example, I received a notice from Credly saying all my badges had been revoked—right after I updated the primary email on my PMI account. The problem? The new email didn’t sync with Credly. I fixed it by logging into Credly, adding the new email to my account, and then calling PMI to trigger a re-sync.

TL;DR
Credly badges are your official proof of certification from PMI. If you’re getting emails from them, don’t ignore them—and if something looks off, check your email settings first.
